Welcome! I’m Carly and thank you SO much for stopping by my blog, Musings of a Wanderer. Let’s dive in, shall we? I initially started my travel blog way back in October 2014. I wrote on and off for about 2 years and while I loved it, I felt I was trying so hard to capture what I thought I should be writing versus what I felt excited about.
Through the encouragement of my friends + family, and after listening to a lot of motivational podcasts and books (shout-out to Rachel Hollis!), I decided to re-launch my blog and get back to the roots of what I’m truly passionate about – traveling, my Orlando community and helping others live a more positive life.
A little bit about me – I’m a wanderer at heart. While I grew up in a family that took a lot of vacations throughout my childhood, it wasn’t until I went to Japan one summer in high school that truly fostered my complete adoration of traveling.
Fun fact: I didn’t want to go.
My parents entered me into a program called, People to People, where I would spend three weeks with other students exploring Japan. I cried. I fought. And then I ultimately went.
I loved it.
Looking back, I could shake myself for the amount of time I spent complaining about being “forced” to go abroad without my family. Even as I type this, I’m cringing. But to put it simply, hindsight is a mother.
Ever since that transformative experience, I’ve continued to travel and push myself outside of my comfort zone. I’ve been all over the world, from Costa Rica to Cuba, Europe and more. Typically, I travel once a month – so that’s about 12 adventures a year!
My goal with this blog is to not only share my life and journey, so when I’m in my 80s I can look back and think about how cool I was, but to also inspire you to get outside and live your best life.
